Account and Data Deletion

This page explains how to delete your SKAFT. account, exactly what is erased, and what we are required to keep. You do not need the app installed to request deletion. Option 2 below works from any email client.

  • App: SKAFT. (com.skaftgolf.app on Google Play, SKAFT. on the App Store)
  • Developer: Viktor Tumi Valdimarsson, kennitala 130508-3160, Iceland
  • Contact: skaft@skaftgolf.com

1. Delete the account yourself, in the app

Open SKAFT. and go to Profile (your avatar, top right) → SettingsDelete account, then confirm.

The deletion runs the moment you confirm it. There is no grace period and no way to reactivate the account afterwards, so export anything you want to keep first. Profile → Export sessions produces a PDF of your practice history.

2. Request deletion by email, with no app needed

If you have already uninstalled SKAFT., lost the device, or cannot sign in, email skaft@skaftgolf.com from the address the account is registered to, with “Delete my account” in the subject line.

We confirm the request came from the account holder, then delete the account. This normally happens within a few days and always within 30 days, as required by GDPR Article 12. You will get a written confirmation once it is done, and you never need to reinstall the app.

If you no longer have access to the registered email address, say so in your message. We will ask you for another way to prove the account is yours before we delete anything, because an unverified deletion request is itself a way to attack someone else's account.

3. What is erased

Deleting the account removes all of the following from live data immediately:

  • Sign-in details: email address, password, and any linked Apple or Google sign-in
  • Profile: name, username, profile photo, club, handicap, handicap goal, date of birth, language
  • Practice history: every session, score, note, and statistic you have logged
  • Drills you created, including every photo and video attached to them
  • Favourites, achievements, streaks, and handicap history
  • Friends, friend requests, competitions, and leaderboard entries
  • Coaching: coach and student links, groups, assignments, coach notes, and every message in your coach conversations
  • Subscription record, notification settings, and push tokens
  • Uploaded files: your profile photo and your drill media are removed from file storage

This is a cascading deletion at the database level rather than a hidden flag, so the rows are genuinely gone and cannot be restored from live data.

4. What is kept, and why

Three things outlive the deletion. None of them can be used to identify you in the app or to contact you.

A record that the deletion happened. We log your email address, the date the account was created, and the timestamp of the deletion. Nothing else. GDPR Article 17 requires us to be able to show that an erasure request was made and honoured, and this entry is that evidence.

Encrypted backups. Our database provider keeps encrypted backups on a rolling schedule. Your data is removed from live systems at once and ages out of the backups within 30 days. Backups are not readable in normal operation and are only ever restored after a total system failure.

Anonymised content and moderation records. If you contributed a photo or video to a shared drill, or filed or resolved a report, that record stays but your identity is stripped from it. Aggregate figures your sessions once fed into, such as an average score across all users, also remain. Neither carries any link back to you.

5. Cancel a paid subscription separately

Deleting your SKAFT. account does not cancel a paid subscription. Subscriptions are billed by Google or Apple rather than by us, so only they can stop the charge.

  • Google Play: Play Store → profile icon → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions → SKAFT. → Cancel subscription
  • App Store: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → SKAFT. → Cancel subscription

Cancel first, then delete the account. If you delete the account while a subscription is still active, you will keep being billed for a service you can no longer sign in to, and we cannot stop that from our side.

6. Questions or complaints

Email skaft@skaftgolf.com and we will answer within 30 days. If you are unhappy with how we handled a deletion request, you can complain to the Icelandic supervisory authority.
